THE STORY

Barnes Hospital opened in 1875 and closed in 1999. Its Gothic architecture and long vacant period attracted photographers; a published April 2014 project records the building during those abandoned years.

The hospital was subsequently restored and converted as part of Barnes Village. A project record dates the first completed phase to June 2017, and council monitoring records the former hospital site as completed in 2018/19. The dramatic archive belongs to a building that now has a residential future.
